AmLight (Americas Lightpaths) and AMPATH (Academic Internet eXchange Point)

Irecê, Bahia

I’m a Senior Network Engineer, currently working at Americas Lightpaths (AmLight) ( and the International Exchange Point for Research & Education Networking in Miami (AMPATH) ( teams.

I received a BSc in Computer Science from the Federal University of Bahia – (UFBA) in 2009, and later in 2010, I received a Specialist (Lato Sensu) Diploma in Informatics from the Brazilian Army Administration School (a.k.a EsFCEx). Also, I had the opportunity of obtaining a couple of certifications in the networking area from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper.

At AmLight/AMPATH teams, I’ve been researching, deploying, and operating a production intercontinental high-speed Software-Defined Network (SDN) based on OpenFlow Protocol, which connects the U.S. with Latin America and the Caribbean. We’re an official ONOS project collaborator and contribute to the project by providing our network operator feedback on the ONOS Applications, as well as describing essential requirements that we envision for ONOS to thrive in the Academic world.
